The Brisbane Building is an imposing structure with large pilasters breaking the front expanse and terra–cotta capitals of ornate design, culminating in a rich Corinthian cornice. 2,000 tons of iron and steel and approximately 3 million bricks were used to construct this seven–story mixed–use retail and office building, which was completed in 1894. It is perhaps best known to locals as the former home of the Kleinhans Co. men's clothing store, a Buffalo institution for 97 years. It is pictured to the right of the Lafayette Square monument in the photo above.
