Originally known as the Dennis Building, the Stanton Building is located in what was known as the Commerce and
Finance Corridor in Buffalo's early years. The facade of this edifice is entirely cast-iron, a revolutionary
19th-century building material, and is the only surviving example of the many such buildings that existed in
Buffalo. At the turn of the century, Buffalo played a dominant role in iron production, because of its location
between the ore fields of the upper Great Lakes and the coal mines of Pennsylvania. Many important architectural
ironwork firms were located in Buffalo and their names are found throughout the City.
Turn around and take a right onto Swan Street. Head two blocks East.
